Brad, Bill, Rob and I offer up our best and worst of the week in FC Cincinnati’s comeback win over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Fanendo Adi’s game-winner was the first in his FC Cincinnati career.
FC Cincinnati’s Technical Director, Luke Sassano, joins us this week on the podcast to discuss building the 2019 roster all while keeping an eye on the 2018 squad vying for a USL Championship. Luke hit on a number of topics including the future academy plans and more. It’s a great in-depth interview and we’re very thankful to have Luke back on the show to talk.
It’s Louisville week. We talk about the rivalry between the two clubs and how much we’re going to miss Louisville Slugger Field.
If the season were to end today, FC Cincinnati would have the home-field advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs and they would host the Nashville SC.
Pretty cool to see Nazmi Albadawi helping out a local youth soccer player in Cincinnati.

Bryan, Boston, Yosief and I each give out our best and worst of the week.
We recapped FC Cincinnati’s 5-1 win over Atlanta United 2 after a record-setting night for the club. It was the first time in the club’s history that they scored 5 goals in a match.
FC Cincinnati followed that up with a rough performance Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. We give our thoughts, and there were lots of them, about this match.
Brad Weigel calls in to recap the 3rd Annual CST FootGolf Classic. We’re proud to announce that we raised over $2,000 for Sports Games for Kids!
We debated whether or not Blake Smith was deserving of a red card, and whether or not it was a penalty against Tampa Bay’s Papé Diakité that led to FC Cincinnati’s win.
We opened up the Kings Hammer Hotline to let you have your say!
If the season were to end today, FC Cincinnati would have the home-field advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs and they would host the Ottawa Fury.
Did you see this tifo from the Timbers Army? This is incredible.

Bryan, Rob, Yosief and I discuss our Best and Worst of the week for FC Cincinnati after their 3-0 win over the Charleston Battery.
Fatai Alashe made his first start for FC Cincinnati on Saturday. He didn’t look like a new guy out there, after watching the tape, he appeared to fit right in with this squad.
Fanendo Adi nearly opened his scoring account for FCC, what did you make of his performance against the Charleston Battery?
The homestand was what you would call a successful one for FC Cincinnati. Any chance you can earn 16 out of 18 points is pretty darn good.
Rob attended training on Monday and saw Evan Newton, Danni Konig, and Dekel Keinan all training. He also had a chance to follow up with Fanendo Adi after his comments last week regarding the Nippert Stadium turf.
With a midweek game, we decided to add a little March 2 Matchday pizazz to the show. We welcomed Taylor Denman from the Gwinnett Daily Post to look ahead to FC Cincinnati’s match with Atlanta United 2. Will the Orange and Blue face off against former goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt? We’ll see!
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rob Peirce and his family as they go through this tough time. Rob’s grandmother passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 96.
If the season were to end today, FC Cincinnati would have the home-field advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs and they would host New York Red Bulls II.
What can’t this guy do? The man can paint, now apparently he can make amazing replica USL stadiums in the sand. Look at this replica of Nippert Stadium that Tom Grabo made! Oh yeah, get signed up for FootGolf this weekend too while you’re at it!

Bill, Boston, Brad and I offered up our Best and Worst of Sunday’s match vs Penn FC.
How come FC Cincinnati struggles with teams they should easily beat? Teams like Toronto FC II and this past weekend in Penn FC.
Fortunately for the Orange and Blue, FC Cincinnati’s Manu Ledesma sealed the 3 points with his free-kick goal in the 80th minute.
Fanendo Adi made another appearance for FC Cincinnati over the weekend. How long will it take him to gel with this squad? What formation should we expect to see going forward?
Charleston comes to town this weekend. What can we expect when FC Cincinnati hosts the 3rd best team in the USL Eastern Conference.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ben Knapp and his family as they go through this tough time. Ben’s father Robert passed away on Friday.
If the season were to end today, FC Cincinnati would have the home-field advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs and they would host Indy Eleven.
Love seeing this picture from DJ Switzer, the former Director of Supporter Relations at FC Cincinnati. His last day with the club was Friday. Looking forward to seeing you in the Bailey more ofter DJ! Thanks for all you did to help grow professional soccer in Cincy.

Bill, Boston, Rob and I offered up our Best and Worst of Saturday’s match vs Nashville SC.
Before the smoke had a chance to clear out in the Bailey, Danni Konig got on the board for FC Cincinnati. Unfortunately, that was as good as it got offensively for FC Cincinnati the rest of the night.
Unfortunately, THAT GUY, a.k.a. Big Bird, a.k.a. Tucker Hume scored his first goal of the season in the 87th minute for Nashville SC. Fortunately for FC Cincinnati, Nashville was unable to cash in more on their 19 shots.
FC Cincinnati Head Coach Alan Koch had some choice words for the officials after the match. Let’s be fair, the officials weren’t the reason why FC Cincinnati dropped points over the weekend. Nipun Chopra from SocTakes.com joined us on the podcast this week to discuss the troubling trend of coaches in USL voicing their displeasure after matches.
Fanendo Adi made his debut for FC Cincinnati. We discuss his first appearance for the Orange and Blue. How long will it take him to gel with this squad? What formation should we expect to see going forward?
If the season were to end today, FC Cincinnati would have the home field advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs and they would host the Ottawa Fury.

FC Cincinnati had two matches last week, unfortunately, they didn’t gain maximum points with their draw against Bethlehem, they still continue to impress. We’re joined this week on the podcast by RC7, a.k.a. Russell Cicerone. Get downloading folks!!!
Our episode captain this week is MATT WROCK! Matt, thank you so much for wearing the armband for this episode! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.
Brad, Bryan, Bill and I highlight our best and worst moments from last week.
Russell Cicerone joined FC Cincinnati this past offseason after spending last year with Portland Timbers 2. After spending the first few months of the season as a background player, Cicerone has absolutely made the most of his opportunities of late. He got the start a few weeks ago against Minnesota United FC in the US Open Cup and really impressed that evening. Coach Alan Koch was so impressed he gave him the next two matches as well. Russell set up a goal in North Carolina and finally got on the scoresheet himself on Wednesday night with a header briefly giving FC Cincinnati the lead. It was his first goal for the club and if the past couple of weeks have given us any indication, he brings a breath of fresh air to that right flank. We’re thrilled to have the chance to talk with him this week. Russ was a terrific guest.
The United bid won the 2026 World Cup which means there will be World Cup matches being played in the United States, Canada, and Mexico!
FC Cincinnati announced last week that their international friendly this year will be against Espanyol from La Liga. Tickets go on sale June 25th and the match will be played on July 28th.
Don’t adjust your earbuds, yes, Bryan really asked Jeff Berding and Luke Sassano to sign free agent Landon Donovan. We discuss Donovan this week after this ridiculous sponsored tweet he put out. Probably wasn’t the best idea.

My boy Jrodius, formerly of The Best Soccer Show, now on the podcast Slop Culture had this to say about Landon Donovan.

Brad, Boston, Rob and I recap the loss last week to Minnesota United FC in the US Open Cup. Despite the loss, FC Cincinnati hung with a team from MLS. Though the penalty shootout did not go as we had hoped, a lot of good came from the match. Russell Cicerone was dynamite and earned himself another start on Saturday against North Carolina.
Speaking of North Carolina, the Orange and Blue road warriors put it to them this past weekend in 2-0 win. Cicerone continued to impress. His weaving run helped setup Danni Konig’s 17th goal in FC Cincinnati history, making him the club’s all-time scoring leader.
Mike Lahoud joined FC Cincinnati very last in the 2018 preseason, but boy are we glad he did. After spending years around Major League Soccer and last year with Miami FC, Luke Sassano and Alan Koch landed a solid midfielder in Lahoud. The last few weeks that he’s been on the pitch, the midfield play has been stellar. Lahoud, Ryan, Walker, Albadawi have connected extremely well of late. Should be a fun rest of the summer as we watch this group continue to grow. Really enjoyed our conversation with Mike tonight.
It’s another busy week ahead for FC Cincinnati as they get set to host Bethlehem Steel and Richmond on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.
Boston tried his best to #SavetheCrew. Here he is on Local 12 talking about Saturday’s match and what the rivalry means to the city. CLICK HERE TO WATCH

Bryan, Bill, Boston and I recap Tuesday’s festivities. In case you didn’t know, FC Cincinnati has finally been accepted into Major League Soccer! We look back at the events from Rhinegeist and Fountain Square.
We transition a bit to discuss what the next few months are going to be like for FC Cincinnati while they prepare to build a Major League Soccer roster. We visited with Alex Schieferdecker from FiftyFive. One, a website that covers Minnesota United, to get a sense of what they went through in their preparations for MLS.
Speaking of Minnesota United, FC Cincinnati gets set to play host to the Loons coming up on Wednesday night in the next round of the US Open Cup.
Oh yeah, there is this thing called USL. FC Cincinnati won a match in New Jersey for the first time ever. Despite going a goal down and nearly down 2-0. A missed penalty by New York Red Bulls II was the catalyst and two 2nd half goals by the Orange and Blue earned them the 3 points.
Looking good in Cancun, Mike! #KeepHellReal
