Yesterday’s City Council meeting was the main topic of our podcast this week. We hear from fans of FC Cincinnati from all over this city who discussed their range of emotions during yesterday’s proceedings. In case you missed it, here’s a recap: http://cincinnatisoccertalk.com/2017/11/27/fc-cincinnati-mls-stadium-infrastructure-plan-sails-committee
Kevin called in to show support for Jeff Berding. Kevin feels like Jeff is getting a bad rap for what is perceived as his previous Hamilton County stadium deals.
We also briefly spent a few moments discussing the newest members of FC Cincinnati that were announced last week, particularly Tyler Gibson who is joining FC Cincinnati from NASL Champions San Francisco Deltas.

We welcome in a few newcomers right off the bat this week. First and foremost we welcome the newest member of CST, Rob Peirce to the podcast. We then welcomed new FC Cincinnati center back Forrest Lasso. Lasso joins FC Cincinnati after a few years with the Charleston Battery. We’ve interviewed quite a few players in 92 episodes but you can just tell in Lasso’s voice he’s absolutely thrilled with the opportunity to play in this city and in front of these passionate fans. The biggest takeaway from our conversation Monday was “championships” and his desire to win one.
There may not be a busier man in the city of Cincinnati right now than Jeff Berding. Jeff took a few minutes out of his extremely busy schedule to give us an update on Monday’s conference call with the Hamilton County Commission and Major League Soccer. Jeff sounded very optimistic about the prospects of getting something done. After the show wrapped Monday, news broke about the stadium too.
We said goodbye to FC Cincinnati club legend, Harrison Delbridge. It was announced last week that Harry will be heading back to Australia with the Melbourne Victory of the A-League with the hopes of securing a spot on the Australian national team. Harry, from all of us at CST, we wish you NOTHING but the best of luck in Australia!
Last but not least, with Thanksgiving coming up this Thursday, we each listed what we’re thankful for regarding FC Cincinnati.

We congratulated the girls' soccer teams at Loveland, Indian Hill, Summit Country Day and the boys soccer team at Beavercreek for winning OHSAA State Championships this weekend. It’s the first time in OHSAA history that all 3 girls state titles were won by Cincinnati teams. Job well-done everyone!
It was announced on Monday that FC Cincinnati and Mercy Health have agreed to a kit sponsorship deal that will go into effect once the club gets into MLS. One of the parties involved in the negotiations stated that this kit sponsorship deal is one of the biggest signed by a team and is better than most MLS kit sponsorship deals currently in place. The deal is contingent upon FC Cincinnati being selected as an MLS Expansion franchise next month.
Lost in all of the news last week surrounding the stadium was the signing of a new center back. On this weeks show we discuss the signing of Dekel Keinan who will be joining us from Maccabi Haifa from the Isreal Premier League. We fill you on what he’ll bring to the FC Cincinnati back line. For more information on Dekel, check out this story from Brad Weigel. (http://cincinnatisoccertalk.com/2017/11/09/fc-cincinnati-rumored-to-sign-maccabi-haifa-cb)

On this week’s show, we’re joined by Jackie Reau, the Board Chair of the Cincinnati Sports Commission. Jackie and the Commission are responsible for organizing the official bid to be a host city in the 2026 World Cup. Yes, THE WORLD CUP! Would you ever have thought two years ago we’d be saying Cincinnati and World Cup in the same sentence? It’s crazy how far this town has come in the soccer landscaped in just over 2 years. Remarkable.
FC Cincinnati defender Paul Nicholson announced his retirement from soccer. He’s hanging up his boots and will join the coaching ranks eventually. Paul will go down as a club legend being part of the inaugural team in 2016. I know the 2017 season did not fare how he had hoped it would, but Paul will always be a legend in our eyes. Congrats on a great career Paul and best of luck in your retirement. Hopefully, we’ll see you again on the field soon Nico!
We wrapped up the show talking USL Playoffs and Mitch Hildebrandt’s new beer.
