The Orange and Blue sit alone atop the Eastern Conference in Major League Soccer after their win this weekend over Sporting KC. While it may not have been a statement win, Kevin Denkey certainly made a statement scoring a brace by way of a bicycle kick to the top corner.
Join Jason, Coach, José, and Kristi for Episode 416 of Cincinnati Soccer Talk to break down the win over SKC.

The Peter Vermes era has come to an end in the KCK. Sporting Kansas City now has to seek a new identity for the first time in 16 years. The new coach bounce was pretty big last week in San Jose, but is there a future under interim leadership? This is no longer the team led by an experienced goalkeeper between the posts.
We invited Jimmy and Daniel from the No Other Pod podcast to discuss this brave new world for SKC. Now that the old guard has left, who pilots the offense? What changes are coming with the end of the trade window? How much of the rocket fuel in last Saturday's win is still in the tank against a Cincinnati squad starting to find their footing?

Despite the absence of Yuya Kubo and Obi Nwobodo, FC Cincinnati continue to find ways to win games. This time they did it in the Windy City on a brace by Evander in his return to the starting XI, and third from striker, Kevin Denkey. Though in the end it was only a one goal differential, the Orange and Blue showed some encouraging signs of what's to come as their attacking partnerships continue to develop.

With Gregg Berhalter's return to the MLS ranks as head coach, the Chicago Fire have returned to the front page. However, that just means a team FC Cincinnati beat in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup is now helmed by the coach of a team FC Cincinnati beat in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup. It's an interesting bit of information.
However, Chicago has also fortified their roster with bigger offensive weapons. Could a certain midfielder from Manchester City follow soon after? Can the defense solidify and turn draws into wins? How should we analyze the clean sheet against Messi and Miami last weekend?
We ask Alex from the CHGO Fire Podcast to join us and give us pointers from his substack. (Smartly, no Malört was consumed in this episode.)

FC Cincinnati continue to prove themselves as road warriors. This time they did in DC off the boot of Dado Valenzuela and a strong defensive performance that kept Benteke and his home side out of the net.
Join Brian, José, Nathan, and newcomer, Jacob for the game breakdown, player analysis, and a preview of what's to come later this month for the Orange and Blue. It's all happening in episode 414 of Cincinnati Soccer Talk.

The cherry blossoms are gone at the nation's capital, but hardly forgotten. The memories of D.C. United's bad loss to San Jose also have not faded from the District. However, FC Cincinnati fans can attest to the fact that bad losses could be followed by great wins.
The two teams clash at Audi Field this weekend, so we invited José Umaña and Mario Amaya (no relation to Frankie) from The Bad Hombres FC Podcast to talk about how head coach Troy Lesesne is directing traffic. Yes, Christian Benteke is a force to be reckoned, but who else should the Orange & Blue watch for? Have the Black & Red resolved their defensive woes from last season?

As the rain fell in Cincinnati and five of FCC's regular starters not even available for the match, there was little hope of coming away with 3 points. But thanks to a heads up play by Pavel Bucha and a sneaky run from Sergios Santos, Cincinnati found the breakthrough they needed.
In episode 413 of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, Brian, Coach, Nathan and Boston break down the win against the Revs, discuss the validity of recent transfer rumors and share their thoughts on FCC's progress so far this season.

Both FC Cincinnati and New England Revolution rode a set piece and a late penalty kick to capture 2-1 victories last week. Both teams needed wins to flip momentum in their seasons. However, while the Orange & Blue used a scalpel to refine their roster in the offseason, the Revs opted for a machete. Head coach Caleb Porter has almost flipped the full squad, but results have been scant to start the season.
We asked Thomas from Revolution Recap about the changes in the offseason and the confidence the fans may have in Porter's system. When does the panic button come into play, especially with some key parts still missing? While we're at it, how hot in the Northeast this season in the lower leagues?

Even with a much more dynamic offensive performance than they've shown in recent weeks, the Orange and Blue looked to be playing for a point late in this week's match against Nashville SC. But thanks to the sharp eyes of referee, Drew Fischer, FCC was awarded a penalty that put them ahead in the 92nd minute and eventually gave them all three points in the Music City.
In episode 412 of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, Jason, Coach, Justin and Brian recap the match, shout out some stand out performances, and consider what this showing could mean for some key upcoming matches.
