3 up and 3 down for FC Cincinnati. The Orange and Blue were able to bring home 9 points out 9 and now they find themselves atop the Eastern Conference. Get downloading folks!

This week’s episode captain is Stephen Buckeridge! Stephen, thank you so much for your support of Cincinnati Soccer Talk. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

Rob, Bill and I recap Saturday night’s 4-2 win over Atlanta United 2. Don’t look now Atlanta, but I think Manu Ledesma is still running behind you. Manu’s performance Saturday night in front of the Nippert faithful was one of the better home individual performances FC Cincinnati fans have ever seen. I’ll say this, there aren’t many that top it.

The change in formation/tactics has really freed this team up. They look like an entirely different bunch that were playing to start the season.

Ledesma and Konig seem to be feeding off each other very well.

3 goals in 3 for FC Cincinnati’s Corben Bone. The man scored 3 goals all of 2017.

It’s the first week of May so we read the names of ALL the awesome supporters that we have.

We briefly looked ahead to this weekend’s first round of the Queen City Cup between Charlotte and Cincinnati.

I was a guest on the Lance McAlister show on Monday afternoon – you can listen here

In this week’s episode, we debate whether or not Kenney Walker’s 50-yard thunderbolt of a goal was the BEST goal in FC Cincinnati history? What say you? Get downloading!

This week’s episode captain is Joseph Wells! Joseph, thank you so much for your support of Cincinnati Soccer Talk. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We open the show by discussing FC Cincinnati’s 3-0 win over the Ottawa Fury Saturday afternoon. It was FC Cincinnati’s 3rd win on the road this season which is big considering they only won 4 away from Nippert last season.

We debated whether or not Kenney Walker’s golazo was the BEST goal in FC Cincinnati history. If you haven’t seen it, here you go.

Video of Walker Goal

Because of Walker’s thunderbolt, the other two goals scored by FC Cincinnati were impressive in their own right but may get overlooked. Corben Bone’s header less than a minute after Walker’s and Ledesma’s chip from 30-yards out were fantastic goals.

We gave away a t-shirt this week thanks to Ryan Fowler and OhioMemories.com. Congrats to Suzie Langen for correct picking FC Cincinnati to win 3-0! Missed out on this contest? Don't worry we'll be doing more of these throughout the summer!

Carl Lindner III and Jeff Berding were in LA for LAFC’s home opener and the debut of their new facilities there in downtown LA. It looked and sounded amazing on television. Many though felt that FC Cincinnati’s presence at the game might have “meant something”. Breathe.

A couple of FC Cincinnati Supporters rode in the Soccer Sedan. Check out their episode! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=626HrVPqseU

What a great day Monday was for soccer in the city of Cincinnati! The CST crew was LIVE from Buffalo Wings and Rings in Oakley this week with guests Jimmy McLaughlin and Jeff Berding! Enjoy the show!

This week’s episode captain is Jeff Egan! Jeff, thank you so much for your support of Cincinnati Soccer Talk. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

Bryan, Bill, Brad, and Yosief recapped Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Bethlehem Steel FC. Fans finally got their wish and saw Nazmi Albadawi open his FC Cincinnati account with the match-tying goal.

FC Cincinnati winger Jimmy McLaughlin stopped by Buffalo Wings and Rings to chat with the CST crew. It was great catching up with him in person and getting the chance to get an inside look at the squad. Plus we find out about the “fine wheel”.

Fresh off his busy day at City Hall, FC Cincinnati President Jeff Berding stopped by to discuss the new stadium, it’s location, the process and what’s next towards MLS. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Jeff in a better mood. It was fantastic to hear.

Another week, another clean sheet for FC Cincinnati as they blanked Indy Eleven 1-0 Saturday night. FC Cincinnati’s defense continues to shine and just in time as Louisville is coming to town. Get downloading!

This week’s episode captain is Dan Village! Dan, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We start the show off this week by recapping the win over Indy Eleven. There’s been quite a bit of debate on social media about how the team is currently performing. It’s hard to argue with results. It’s the first time in franchise history that FC Cincinnati has won their first two games of a season, let alone not concede a goal in the process. Should Manu Ledesma feature more centrally rather than out wide? Should Richie Ryan be given more time on the ball rather than being bypassed for long balls to the forward and wingers? It makes for a fun debate, but again, FC Cincinnati already has 6 points away from home this year. They only mustered up 12 points all of 2017. I’d say that’s an improvement.

A big reason why FC Cincinnati held another clean sheet on Saturday night was due to the massive double save Evan Newton had in the match after a penalty kick was incorrectly awarded to Indy’s Jack McInerney. Newton didn’t let it bother him. He stepped up and saved the ensuing PK as well as the quick rebound on the miss from Ben Speas. Despite his fiery competitiveness on the pitch, Newton’s recently shown a softer compassionate side off the pitch as well. Listen in to this week’s episode to find out how Evan’s gotten involved in this community.

Make sure you download this week’s March to Matchday to get the skinny on this weekend’s opponent Louisville City FC!

Sure bye weeks are great for the players who need a break, but to have a bye week one week after the season opener is such a tease. Thankfully the FC Cincinnati faithful have a short trek up I-74 this week to watch the Orange and Blue take on Indy Eleven. Enjoy this week’s show. Get downloading!

This week’s episode captain is Mike Berryman! Mike, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We started off this week’s show by recapping this past weekend’s win over the Columbus Crew reserves. I certainly can’t blame Alan Koch for wanting to keep his guys fresh. All that build up to the season opener and then to have to sit around for the weekend. The club’s friendly with the Dayton Flyers was snowed out over the weekend, so it was good to hear that FC Cincinnati got some minutes over the weekend.

We learned today about Cincinnati’s bid to be a host city for the United big in 2026. It’s interesting to see where Cincinnati stacks up against the other cities bidding for the World Cup in 2026. To learn more check out Bryan’s story here.

We wrapped up the show by playing the Wikipedia game again.

Yes! FC Cincinnati opens the season for the first time in their history with a win! Speaking of history, they announced the hiring of their first Technical Director as well this week. Get downloading!

This week’s episode captain is Jesse King! Jesse, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We started off this week’s show by recapping last week’s 1-0 win over the Charleston Battery. For the 3rd straight year, FC Cincinnati opened the year in South Carolina and the 3rd time is the charm. After losing their first two tries, FC Cincinnati finally started a USL campaign with a win, largely thanks to left-back Blake Smith who scored the only goal of the match. Evan Newton also had 3 massive saves to keep the Battery scoreless. It wasn’t pretty, but 3 points on the road at a place they haven’t won is a good first step to the 2018 campaign.

We welcome new FC Cincinnati Technical Director, Luke Sassano, to the show this week. Sassano has joined FC Cincinnati after spending a few years with the New York Cosmos. I speak for a few of us here at CST, we came away very impressed with the answers Luke gave us on the podcast. He’s got big plans for this club and we’re really looking forward to see the direction he’ll take FC Cincinnati. To learn more about Sassano, read about him here.

It wouldn’t be an episode of CST without discussing MLS expansion and stadium locations. Though, FC Cincinnati has made life on us easier by eliminating one of the 3 sites.

We wrapped the show this week by filling you in on the fun things we’ve got upcoming here at CST, particularly the 3rd Annual Cincinnati Soccer Talk Footgolf Classic!

This week’s episode captain is Kathleen Harris! Kathleen, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We started off this week’s show by recapping last week’s 2-2 draw between for FC Cincinnati and Nashville SC. At times FC Cincinnati struggled in the first half. Despite going down a goal the Orange and Blue held a 2-1 lead until a late penalty was given to Nashville SC.

We spent a few minutes talking about last week’s NKU friendly as well as the Meet-and-Greet that took place at Madtree Brewing in Oakley.

So who gets the nod in goal for FC Cincinnati? Evan Newton was supposed to start on Saturday against Nashville. If you had to pick between Richey or Even Newton, which way would you lean?

We wrapped up the show this week by playing The Wikipedia Game. It took a minute to get comfortable with the rules but the game is very fun! We hope you’ll enjoy it.

After a long offseason for the Orange and Blue, it sure feels fantastic to get back to analyzing actual soccer matches rather than stadium locations. This week we look ahead to TWO more friendlies.
We catch up with Northern Kentucky University Men’s Soccer Coach Stu Riddle on this week’s show. Get downloading!

This week’s episode captain is Nate Hale! Nate, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We started off this week’s show by recapping last week’s 2-1 win for FC Cincinnati over Indy XI. It was Boston’s first time seeing FC Cincinnati in person this year and he already notices a massive difference in the squad.

Many of you will get your first look at FC Cincinnati Tuesday night when they take on NKU in their next friendly. NKU Men’s Head Soccer Coach Stu Riddle visited with us for the first time! Stu has a wealth of experience coaching at the collegiate level. He also has had a few opportunities this week to watch FC Cincinnati train. He also was in Florida watching the Blue and Orange draw with the New England Revolution. Stu has a special bond with a particular FCC winger in Russell Cicerone, who played for him while he was the Head Coach at the University of Buffalo.

FC Cincinnati also announced last week that they have signed new forward Tomi Ameobi. To learn more about the newest FC Cincinnati striker you can read up on him here.

We also touched on some betting lines that came out yesterday. According to Las Vegas sportsbook William Hill, FC Cincinnati is 20 to 1 odds to win the USL Championship. Does anyone want to take those odds?

Bill late in the show also broke the news that FC Cincinnati and the City have put in their bid to be a host city in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Whoa!

We are back in the podcasting saddle this week after some sunshine in Florida and some much-needed rest. Monday night marked the 2-year anniversary of Cincinnati Soccer Talk. What better way to spend it with FC Cincinnati’s Assistant Coach Austin Berry. Get downloading folks!

This week’s episode captain is Christina Sharma! Christina, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We started off this week’s show catching up with one another. We introduced a new show intro for the 2018 season featuring the voice of my Uncle Rob. The guy’s got some pipes! Hope you dig the new intro.

Over the weekend Austin Berry popped the question! Yes, THE question. Congrats to Austin and Nikki! Even though he spent a few weeks preparing for the big day, Austin’s been hard at work during FC Cincinnati’s preseason. Bill Wolf and I had the chance to watch him up close and personal in Florida and it was awesome to see how he’s transitioned from player to coach. He’s got a bright future ahead of him on the coaching track and we’re really excited for Austin.

FC Cincinnati today officially announced the signing of defensive midfielder Richie Ryan. We did our best to give you the scouting report with the absence of Bryan Weigel on this week’s show. He helps fill you in here too.

Last but certainly not least we start to get geared up for more preseason friendlies. FC Cincinnati will hit the road this week and head to Indianapolis to take on Indy Eleven. Our own Boston Brazzell will be there and have you covered!

The 2018 USL schedule was finally released last week so of course we spend this episode getting hyped over some of the big fixtures for FC Cincinnati. We were absolutely thrilled to be joined by FC Cincinnati TV/Radio Analyst Kevin McCloskey as well. Get downloading folks!

This week’s episode captain is Courtney Rice! Courtney, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We start the show off by briefly looking ahead to the 2018 schedule that was released last week.

Kevin McCloskey joins us again on the show this week to discuss the 2018 offseason. Kevin is a rockstar in the FC Cincinnati broadcast booth. His analysis is by far the best on any USL broadcast you’ll watch this season. Kevin had a chance to watch practice at UC last week and came away very impressed with the squad that coach Alan Koch has put together for the 2018 season.

The CST staff are really excited at the prospect of getting 3 matches each with Louisville, Indy Eleven, and Nashville SC. Lots of road trips for FC Cincinnati fans in 2018.
