Now that everyone is back from their mini Christmas break, we got back into the studio to talk FC Cincinnati! We look back at 2017 in this final episode of the year. Get downloading folks!

This week’s episode captain is Matt Imholt! Matt, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We start the show off by discussing our Christmases and some of the FC Cincinnati related items Boston and Bill got for Christmas. Unfortunately, I didn’t get anything. Here’s a big hint for next year Seuberling family. They’re probably not reading this anyway……

We took a trip down the 2017 memory lane and looked back on what a year it was for FC Cincinnati. We started with the big news early on about the head coaching change. Bitegate. The US Open Cup run. The road trips to Pittsburgh, St Louis, Charleston, Miami, and more. The slaying of MLS giants Chicago and Columbus at Nippert Stadium. Loisville, Streamergate, the Coney Phone, and more.

This is pretty cool. Cincinnati Soccer Talk was awarded the 2017 USL Podcast of the Year according to the subreddit r/USLPRO. Thanks to everyone who voted for us!

Keep your fingers crossed for an MLS Expansion announcement soon FC Cincinnati fans!

We were hoping that tonight would be the night we’d be celebrating FC Cincinnati’s entrance into Major League Soccer. That’s ok. We got the next best thing. SiriusXM FC’s Jason Davis, the host of The United States of Soccer, joins us this week to talk about FC Cincinnati’s MLS chances. Get downloading folks!

This week’s episode captain is Beverly Spargur! Beverly, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We’re joined right away at the top of the show with Jason Davis, The Soccer Eagle. You may recognize Jason as one of the best, if not THE best soccer radio hosts in the country. Jason got his start talking about soccer years ago on podcasts like The Best Soccer Show and Soccer Morning. Jason spent a good portion of this week’s show with us discussing Major League’s Soccer expansion process, the state of US soccer as a whole, and of course FC Cincinnati’s expansion hopes. We even put him on the spot about coming to Cincinnati this summer to catch an FC Cincinnati match!

FC Cincinnati is on the verge of adding a huge piece to the Orange and Blue puzzle that is the 2017 offseason. Nazmi Albadawi should be joining from North Carolina FC we reported last week. Read more here.

We wrapped up this week’s show talking about some of the roster movement around USL.

Keep your fingers crossed for an MLS Expansion announcement soon FC Cincinnati fans!

On this week’s episode, we discuss FC Cincinnati’s pitch to Major League Soccer executives with the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Pat Brennan. Get downloading folks!

This week’s episode captain is Teresa Everage! Teresa, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

This week we actually talked about an actual MLS match for once, the MLS Cup Final. It was an awesome game to watch. Toronto absolutely bossed the rematch with Seattle. They should have won 5 or 6-0 with the number of shots they had in the first half. Congrats to Cincy’s own Nick Hagglund for winning the MLS Cup with Toronto. He got some minutes as well as a late substitution for Toronto in the end.

We were joined by the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Pat Brennan who does a fantastic job covering FC Cincinnati. Pat was one of the few reporters who was in New York City last week for the MLS Expansion pitches that Detroit, Sacramento, Nashville and Cincinnati unveiled. Pat fills us in on everything that went down as well as his take on MLS Commissioner Don Garber’s comments during the MLS State of the Union press conference Friday.

FC Cincinnati announced another player signing, this time it was forward Tommy Heinemann from the San Franciso Deltas. The guys weighed in on the signing, yes we’re very excited. You can read more about him here.

The CST crew got together and enjoyed their first ever Holiday Party. It was nothing like the movie Office Christmas Party but we still had a blast despite being inundated with thousands of Santa’s at SantaCon.

On this week’s episode, we discuss the news that FC Cincinnati’s Mitch Hildebrandt and Austin Berry will no longer be suiting up for the Orange and Blue. Plus we’re joined by new goalkeeper coach, Jack Stern. Get downloading!

This week’s episode captain is Josh Staley! Josh, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

FC Cincinnati announced last week that they have brought on another full-time coach in Jack Stern. Jack’s had a wealth of experience coaching around the world. He comes to Cincinnati after a stint in Montreal with MLS side Montreal Impact for the past 4 seasons. He’s also got English Premier League experience as well where he coaches at West Bromwich Albion. Stern is excited about the opportunity that lies ahead of him in the Queen City and knows he’s got two really good goalkeepers to fill the massive gloves of Mitch Hildebrandt.

Speaking of Mitch, yes, he’s left the Queen City and has signed with Atlanta United FC. Talk about going from electric atmosphere to another. It’s sad to see Mitch go. He’ll be missed. He may not have been the best goalkeeper in the world, but he was solid USL goalkeeper who was the face of the franchise in it’s two short years. We’ll miss you, Mitch. Best of luck in Atlanta!

Going into 2018, FC Cincinnati will have an entirely new backline and goalkeeper now that Austin Berry has decided to retire from playing soccer. He’ll be joining the FC Cincinnati coaching staff in 2018. Berry will be responsible for establishing schedules and tailoring programs for the FCC players to enhance and maintain peak performance. Good luck in your new role, Austin

Bryan spent a few moments filling us in on the newest FC Cincinnati signings. You won’t want to miss this. I swear Weigel is like a freaking encyclopedia. I don’t know how he knows about all of these guys but somehow he does.

On this week’s episode, we took call, after call, after call from FC Cincinnati supporters wanting to chime in on Monday’s stadium news. It was a great show so get downloading!

This week’s episode captain is Jack Emory! Jack, thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

Yesterday’s City Council meeting was the main topic of our podcast this week. We hear from fans of FC Cincinnati from all over this city who discussed their range of emotions during yesterday’s proceedings. In case you missed it, here’s a recap: http://cincinnatisoccertalk.com/2017/11/27/fc-cincinnati-mls-stadium-infrastructure-plan-sails-committee

Kevin called in to show support for Jeff Berding. Kevin feels like Jeff is getting a bad rap for what is perceived as his previous Hamilton County stadium deals.

We also briefly spent a few moments discussing the newest members of FC Cincinnati that were announced last week, particularly Tyler Gibson who is joining FC Cincinnati from NASL Champions San Francisco Deltas.

On this week’s episode, we catch up with the newest member of FC Cincinnati, Forrest Lasso. Plus Jeff Berding joins us to give us an MLS Expansion and stadium update. Get downloading!

This week’s episode captain is Brian Malone! Brian thank you so much for your support and generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We welcome in a few newcomers right off the bat this week. First and foremost we welcome the newest member of CST, Rob Peirce to the podcast. We then welcomed new FC Cincinnati center back Forrest Lasso. Lasso joins FC Cincinnati after a few years with the Charleston Battery. We’ve interviewed quite a few players in 92 episodes but you can just tell in Lasso’s voice he’s absolutely thrilled with the opportunity to play in this city and in front of these passionate fans. The biggest takeaway from our conversation Monday was “championships” and his desire to win one.

There may not be a busier man in the city of Cincinnati right now than Jeff Berding. Jeff took a few minutes out of his extremely busy schedule to give us an update on Monday’s conference call with the Hamilton County Commission and Major League Soccer. Jeff sounded very optimistic about the prospects of getting something done. After the show wrapped Monday, news broke about the stadium too.

We said goodbye to FC Cincinnati club legend, Harrison Delbridge. It was announced last week that Harry will be heading back to Australia with the Melbourne Victory of the A-League with the hopes of securing a spot on the Australian national team. Harry, from all of us at CST, we wish you NOTHING but the best of luck in Australia!

Last but not least, with Thanksgiving coming up this Thursday, we each listed what we’re thankful for regarding FC Cincinnati.

On this week’s episode, we’re discussing the big news of the day, FC Cincinnati’s partnership with Mercy Health, plus local high school soccer gets some much-deserved recognition! Get downloading!

No episode captain this week, unfortunately. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We congratulated the girls' soccer teams at Loveland, Indian Hill, Summit Country Day and the boys soccer team at Beavercreek for winning OHSAA State Championships this weekend. It’s the first time in OHSAA history that all 3 girls state titles were won by Cincinnati teams. Job well-done everyone!

It was announced on Monday that FC Cincinnati and Mercy Health have agreed to a kit sponsorship deal that will go into effect once the club gets into MLS. One of the parties involved in the negotiations stated that this kit sponsorship deal is one of the biggest signed by a team and is better than most MLS kit sponsorship deals currently in place. The deal is contingent upon FC Cincinnati being selected as an MLS Expansion franchise next month.

Lost in all of the news last week surrounding the stadium was the signing of a new center back. On this weeks show we discuss the signing of Dekel Keinan who will be joining us from Maccabi Haifa from the Isreal Premier League. We fill you on what he’ll bring to the FC Cincinnati back line. For more information on Dekel, check out this story from Brad Weigel. (http://cincinnatisoccertalk.com/2017/11/09/fc-cincinnati-rumored-to-sign-maccabi-haifa-cb)

On this week’s episode, we’re talking Cincinnati and the World Cup? Plus, FC Cincinnati announced the retirement of a fan favorite, plus that team down south moves on to the USL Final. Get downloading!

No episode captain this week, unfortunately. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

On this week’s show, we’re joined by Jackie Reau, the Board Chair of the Cincinnati Sports Commission. Jackie and the Commission are responsible for organizing the official bid to be a host city in the 2026 World Cup. Yes, THE WORLD CUP! Would you ever have thought two years ago we’d be saying Cincinnati and World Cup in the same sentence? It’s crazy how far this town has come in the soccer landscaped in just over 2 years. Remarkable.

FC Cincinnati defender Paul Nicholson announced his retirement from soccer. He’s hanging up his boots and will join the coaching ranks eventually. Paul will go down as a club legend being part of the inaugural team in 2016. I know the 2017 season did not fare how he had hoped it would, but Paul will always be a legend in our eyes. Congrats on a great career Paul and best of luck in your retirement. Hopefully, we’ll see you again on the field soon Nico!

We wrapped up the show talking USL Playoffs and Mitch Hildebrandt’s new beer.

Just a few hours after we published last week’s podcast episode, FC Cincinnati had a press conference announcing roster moves for the upcoming 2018 season. There were a lot of names we expected to not be back next season. There were some surprises though. We discuss that and more on this week’s podcast! Get downloading!

No episode captain this week, unfortunately. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

FC Cincinnati announced roster moves for next season. They announced a core group of players who have either signed or been extended to next season. They also listed off a bunch of names that will not be returning in 2018. Read about all of these changes here: Cincinnatisoccertalk.com/2017/10/25/fc-cincinnati-turns-the-page-to-2018

We spent a good portion of the show discussing what this team is missing and what kind of players need to be brought in for 2018.

The guys wrapped the show this week talking a little USL Playoffs. We all agreed that we definitely don’t want that team down south to win this weekend and advance to the USL Finals.

In episode 2 of the CST EPL Roundtable BradWeigel is joined by Kevin Jackson (LFC Cincinnati), Andrew Jono (Man U), and Clay Benjamin (Cincy Blues). They recap the first 9 matches of the EPL season and the first half of UEFA Champions League group play. We also discuss our "who's hot" and "who's not" teams and who we think will finish up top after 38 matches.

Unfortunately, FC Cincinnati’s 2017 postseason ended as quickly as it began. Another one and done for the Orange and Blue. On this week’s episode, we look back at the match from Saturday night and look ahead to a quick turnaround for FCC. Get downloading folks!!<--more-->

No episode captain this week, unfortunately. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

FC Cincinnati fell 3-0 to the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the first round of the USL Playoffs. For whatever reason, this 2017 FC Cincinnati squad just could not muster up any away form this year. If you don’t think a new stadium is necessary, think again. They can’t afford to go on the road for 6 of the last 8 weeks of the season like they did this year. What were your thoughts on the 4-4-2 from Saturday? Surprised? How about the substitutions? Did you make anything of the performance Saturday? Hard to watch that’s for sure.

There was some breaking news late in the day on Tuesday that FC Cincinnati will be hosting a 10 a.m. Press Conference on Wednesday regarding roster changes. Based on the timing of this press conference so soon as the season and while the USL and MLS playoffs are underway, this presser likely means we’re saying goodbye to some of our favorite Orange and Blue Soccer Ball Kicking Good Guys. Which player departure would you be unhappy about the most?

Brad and Ben had a chance to record another Premier League/Champions League Roundtable at Rhinehaus last night as well. Be on the lookout for that podcast in your feed soon. Don’t want to miss it? Get subscribed for free so that it automatically downloads to your device!

Hey! What do you know! FC Cincinnati gets a win on the road which means they avoid Louisville in the 1st round of the USL Playoffs. But, Tampa Bay is certainly no slouch. We’re joined by Harrison Delbridge this week on the podcast and we also discuss the relocation plans for Columbus Crew SC.

No episode captain this week, unfortunately. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

Well, they’re in! FC Cincinnati made the postseason, but we knew this on Thursday evening after Tampa Bay beat Orlando City B. FC Cincinnati’s final regular season road game was an interesting affair, to say the least. They somehow managed to concede 3 goals to one of the worst teams in USL but fortunately, FC Cincinnati was able to put 4 in the back of Toronto’s net. We recap the match and our thoughts moving forward into the postseason.

The last time we had Harrison Delbridge on the show was last year after he was voted the 2016 Player of the Year at Cincinnati Soccer Talk. Harry took home the award AGAIN in 2017 narrowly edging out teammate Mitch Hildebrandt. Delbridge joined the podcast to discuss the 2017 seaso and his excitement for the upcoming playoffs. He also fills us in on where you can find Jimmy McLaughlin if he ever goes missing in Cincy.

If you haven’t heard already, Grant Wahl from Sports Illustrated broke this story late on Monday evening. Yes, you’re reading it correctly. The owner of the Columbus Crew has a plan seemingly in place to go ahead and move the team to Austin. Joining us on the show this week is Patrick Murphy from MassiveReport.com to talk about the implications, what it means for Columbus soccer fans as well as what it means for FC Cincinnati’s expansion application.

FC Cincinnati struggles on the road yet again. The United States can’t win on the road in a match that guarantees them qualification into the World Cup. The parallels between these two teams are strikingly similar. We discuss on this week’s podcast. Get downloading!

Our episode captain this week is Harry! Harry, thank you so much for your generosity! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

Boston, Yosief and I talk about the embarrassing loss over the weekend to the Ottawa Fury, a team that had NOTHING to play for other than play spoiler to FC Cincinnati’s postseason hopes. With the loss, FC Cincinnati may have to win this weekend in order to clinch a playoff spot. They’ll need some help on Thursday night by the Tampa Bay Rowdies when they hit the road against Orlando who is also fighting for a spot.

In our second segment, we talk about the confidence we have in this team to get a result on the road in Toronto this weekend. It could potentially be a must-win game for FC Cincinnati. It’s entirely possible that we’ll know FC Cincinnati’s playoff chances after Thursday night.

Lastly, we discuss how the USMNT missing the 2018 World Cup will affect soccer in the Tri-State. It’s crazy how similar FC Cincinnati and the US have fared this year. Both teams can’t win on the road in games that matter.

Plus we ended the show with our final Growler Cup predictions of the year!

Thanks WVXU!

FC Cincinnati is hanging on for dear life for a playoff spot in the USL Eastern Conference. Those 3 points picked up in Charlotte were HUGE. But is this team playing well right now? How are you feeling heading into the postseason? Get downloading folks!

Highlights from this week’s show.

That wasn’t the prettiest of soccer ever BUT it got the job done on Friday night as FC Cincinnati squeaked out a 1-0 win over 3rd place Charlotte. Kenney Walker was sent off due to receiving two yellow cards and GK Mitch Hildebrandt made a 2 point saving save late on a Charlotte penalty kick. Would you believe that this team is currently on a 6-match unbeaten run? Could have fooled us. Are you concerned with the teams form? Or is it more like get 3 points any way you can now at this point. Let us know!

Hamilton County Commissioners identify 4 major infrastructure projects for consideration and BOOM, FC Cincinnati’s soccer-specific stadium made the list. Check out the interesting quotes from Todd Portune on the new projects. READ HERE

It was a busy night for FC Cincinnati fans, a march to the Hamilton County Commissioners meeting AND an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk! What a Tuesday night! Get downloading folks!

No episode captain this week! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We start the show off by discussing the 2-2 draw with Saint Louis FC. With the draw, FC Cincinnati stayed in 6th place and despite Bethlehem Steel having 2 games in hand over the orange and blue. The match was a disappointing match for FC Cincinnati as they found themselves down in this ballgame. However, a LATE penalty kick goal from Danny Konig allowed FC Cincinnati to escape St. Louis with a point.

Our own Bill Wolf was on location tonight for the Hamilton County Commissioner's Meeting where the topic of discussion was about "big box" projects. For instance, things like FC Cincinnati's soccer-specific stadium, U.S. Bank Arena, etc. Bill talked about the march into the meeting that was led by FC Cincinnati President and GM Jeff Berding. It was great to see photos from the passionate FC Cincinnati fans who showed up to support the Build it Here movement.

We also discuss the potential upcoming playoff opponents, if FC Cincinnati makes it, and determine which Eastern Conference opponents we’d LIKE to face and which ones we’d rather stay as far away from as possible.

Plus we ended the show with our Growler Cup predictions!

What a way to cap off the FC Cincinnati 2017 home season! A beat down of the Baby Bulls and 3 absolute screamers for goals. We dissect that and more on this week’s show. Get downloading!

No episode captain this week! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk log onto CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We start the show off by discussing the big 4-2 win over New York Red Bulls II. With the win, FC Cincinnati climbed up to 6th place in the Eastern Conference. The 3 goals scored by Corben Bone, Harrison Delbridge, and Kenney Walker were absolute beauties. Which goal was most impressive to you?

Pat Brennan covers FC Cincinnati for the Cincinnati Enquirer and he does a fantastic job. Pat’s a soccer guy at heart, not just a sports junkie assigned to a soccer beat. Pat has some soccer playing experience at the college level and is soccer fanatic. Just ask him about Wigan Athletic. This week we ask him about the differences between the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He’s also made it very clear that he’s a fan of Alan Koch and feels that he’s done a great job this year with FC Cincinnati. Give Pat a follow over at @pbrennanENQ for all his FCC tweets.

Of course, we wrapped up the show by giving our Growler Cup predictions for the upcoming Saint Louis FC match. Be sure to check out Bryan’s March to Matchday coming out later this week for an in-depth preview!

FC Cincinnati was off this weekend but that doesn’t stop the CST train from moving forward. On this week’s show, we’re joined by Andrew Wiedeman AND Jimmy McLaughlin! It was one of the most entertaining interviews we’ve ever done you won’t want to miss it. Get downloading folks!

Highlights from this week’s show.

We had an absolute blast this week catching up with both Jimmy and Andrew. We asked them a WIDE, and I mean a WIDE range of questions this week. From who’s their favorite superhero to who would play them in a movie. Plus we find out their pregame rituals and Andrew’s preparation for his upcoming nuptials.

We ended the show taking your calls and of course we gave our Growler Cup predictions for Tuesday night’s match against the Harrisburg City Islanders.
