We open up this week’s show with a visit from Extratime’s Matt Doyle. Doyle was on our show again about a year ago and so we wanted to have him back on the show to get a sense of where he feels FCC is at the current moment. We value Doyle’s opinion because he doesn’t mince words and he’s brutally honest. Bluntly, this team hasn’t done enough this offseason to improve. Sometimes, these things need to be said out loud and it’s OK. Check out Matt on Extratime wherever you get your podcasts.

Later in the show, we discussed Brenner’s arrival to Cincy and some of the other rumored players potentially arriving, Armando Mendez, Lucho Acosta to name a few.

We ended the show by debating the over/under on how many goals Extratime set for Brenner this season. How many goals do you think he’ll score in 2021?

Also, as many of you saw last week, our own Michael Lahoud has accepted a position with Austin FC as their Color Analyst on their English-speaking TV broadcasts. We’re certainly sad to see Michael go but we couldn’t be more proud of this accomplishment for him. We’ll be watching and rooting for YOU in Austin. Maybe not the team, but we’ll be rooting for you. Thank you for taking a chance on CST and for helping us elevate our game these past few months. You’ve been a rockstar from day one.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK’S SHOW.

On this week’s show, we talk FCC with Bryan Weigel, Boston Brazzell and Jeff Wallner.

We open up the show by discussing the West End Stadium tour that Jeff was fortunate to go on last week. To read more about his experience, check out his article from last week.

Bryan talks us through some of the new player rumors surrounding FC Cincinnati, particularly Armanda Mendez and Luciano Acosta. Kyle Scott, who we also discussed last week is now on trial at FC Cincinnati according to multiple reports.

Is there still a reason to #BelieveinGaston? Cagliari in Serie A are contenders for relegation and he’s not playing very much. Could this happen? Or is Jurgen Locadia trolling us on Instagram?

Frankie Amaya was invited to Olympic Qualifying Camp for the US U-23 squad. Frankie was one of 31 players to get an invite from coach Jason Kreis.

We offer up our thoughts on last week’s Dynamic Kit reveal. What did you think? Here’s what our own Jacob Clary had to say about the new look.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK’S SHOW.

On this week’s show, I’m back hosting with Geoff Tebbetts, Bill Wolf, and Michael Lahoud.

We open up the show discussing the report from The Post Cincy that FC Cincinnati is in negotiations with Newcastle United midfielder Kyle Scott. Scott is a 23-year old midfielder who started his professional career at Chelsea in their youth ranks. He’s been a member of the USYNT U15, U18, and U20 squads. We fill you in on who we feel about this signing. Mike didn’t mince words.

Since Mike was absent last week due to not having any power in Texas, he didn’t get a chance to chime in on the Frankie Amaya report from The Athletic. He also didn’t mince words here.

We were thrilled to welcome back friend of the show Paul Nicholson. Paul was a member of the very first FC Cincinnati team back in 2016. He has started his coaching career previously with the Cincinnati Dutch Lions. Now you can find him roaming the dugout for the new USL League 2 announced last weekKings Hammer FC. We talk to Paul about why a USL League 2 team in Cincy is necessary and how Kings Hammer will be involved. It was great catching up with Nico!

It’s Kit Reveal Week! We discuss our thoughts on last year’s kits and where we hope the Orange and Blue go this week with their new home 2021 kits.

The guys are joined by Laurel Pfahler from Queen City Press to discuss her report Monday evening regarding the deal for Pity Martinez apparently falling through.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK’S SHOW.

On this week’s show, we’re joined by Michael Lahoud, Brad Weigel, and Coach Brad Gough returns to discuss the news that striker Brenner from Sao Paulo will be joining FC Cincinnati for the 2021 MLS season. An expected official announcement will be made by the club tomorrow but the club more or less confirmed his signing with a cool video Monday night. Kudos Matt Shisler! Well done.

To learn more about Brenner and what kind of striker FC Cincinnati are getting, we’re joined this week on the show by Pedro Luis Cuenca from Territorio MLS. I made the mistake on the show saying that their website is a Portuguese website. I apologize for this error, their website is a Brazilian website covering Major League Soccer. My mistake and I apologize for misspeaking.

We also discuss the news CST was able to report last week that former Atlanta United midfielder Pity Martinez is heading to Cincy after a short stint in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr.

The CBA was officially ratified today between MLS owners and the MLSPA. What does it mean going forward? We discuss.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK’S SHOW.

On this week’s show, we’re joined by Michael Lahoud, Bill Wolf returns, and we’re pleased to announce the debut of new CST contributor, Geoff Tebbetts.

We opened up the show by discussing the news that MLS will kick off its preseason on February 22nd and its Regular Season on April 3rd, barring a new Collective Bargaining Agreement has been reached between MLS ownership and the MLSPA.

We then discussed FC Cincinnati GM Gerard Nijkamp’s comments during last week’s press conference. You can read more about it from our Jeff Wallner here.

Of course, Michael was absolutely thrilled for our chat with fellow Wake Forest Demon Deacon Calvin Harris. After a fine career at Wake, Harris was selected with the 2nd Overall pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. We find out a little bit more about FC Cincinnati’s newest member, including the team he supports back home, and life abroad. We can’t wait to see him on the pitch at West End Stadium!

Late in the show, we discussed the report from The Athletic’s Jeff Rueter, Sam Stejskal, and Paul Tenorio regarding Frankie Amaya and other MLS teams reaching out to FC Cincinnati for his services. The report states that the trade request from some of these clubs matched or was close to what Atlanta was able to get in their trade with the Columbus Crew for Darlington Nagbe. You can read more about this here. (subscription required)

We wrapped up the show with Bill and Geoff discussing “Let them Play”, a campaign put together by the Independent Supporters Council regarding their feelings on a potential lockout.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK’S SHOW.

This week we’re joined by Ken Hoetker, Brad Weigel, former FC Cincinnati midfielder Michael Lahoud as we look ahead to the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.

We started off the show by discussing the rumor that broke right before we went live that the New York Red Bulls are shopping center back Tim Parker (reported by Ives Galarcep of sbisoccer.com) and according to Will Forbes on Twitter (he nailed the Matarrita deal), Parker’s headed to Cincinnati. This has yet to be confirmed and is still just a rumor. Stay tuned to CST for further updates.

Joining us as a special guest this week is Travis Clark, the Director of Content over at TopDrawerSoccer.com. Anytime you need information about the collegiate game and the top prospects coming into MLS, you should check out the fine work that Travis does over there. Really glad he joined us this week on the show.

We had a spirited discussion about which way FC Cincinnati should go in the draft. Draft the attacking goal scorer in Calvin Harris? Draft a center back to solidify your defense in Ethan Bartlow. What do you think?

We also announced today at CST that former FC Cincinnati and Arsenal defender Justin Hoyte will be joining CST as an analyst for the 2021 MLS season! We’re excited to have him and can’t wait to get started.

We wrapped up this week’s show with a listener question from Jim Gegner, he asked Michael what were his emotions leading up to the 2009 MLS SuperDraft when Michael was selected 9th overall by Chivas USA. Michael shared his experience both leading up to the draft and beyond.
