What a difference a week makes for FC Cincinnati! They finally get to play at home and the offense unlocks itself! I think Djiby is still scoring goals down at Nippert as I type this.

This week’s episode is brought to you by the Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC. Learn more about the Dutch Lions at cdlfc.com.

No Episode Captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today!

Highlights from this week’s show.

Boston, Brad, Yosief and I recap the weekend’s festivities and talk about the atmosphere at Nippert Stadium Saturday night. From the march into the stadium to the game itself, Saturday was one of the best days ever.

The one and only Corben Bone joined us on the podcast this week. Corben played a tremendous part in the 4-0 thrashing of Saint Louis Saturday night. He talks about the tweaks to the formation that Coach Koch made and how his relationship with other midfielders Kenney Walker and Aodhan Quinn played a pivotal role in his performance. Plus, he’s ready to bring back the bleach blond hair from last year.

We look back at the 4-0 result against Saint Louis FC and briefly touch on this week’s opponents in Tampa Bay and Louisville City.

We end the show by discussing a little Paintgate. It turns out our own Bryan Weigel’s been had. Find out why on the show.

Well. Sunday couldn’t have gone much worse. An early injury, an early red card. Just wasn’t FC Cincinnati’s day. This week on the podcast we’re joined by Andrew Wiedeman! He’s ready to rock Nippert on Saturday night.

Bryan finally caves and admits he’ll be “painting up” this weekend for the home opener at Nippert Stadium on Saturday night when FC Cincinnati host Saint Louis FC. Pictures, or it never happened Bryan!

The one and only Andrew Wiedeman joined us again on the podcast. Amazingly enough it was one year ago TODAY that Andrew joined us on CST for the first time. Crazy how that all worked out. Andrew had a lot of great things to say this week about the upcoming home opener. He’s looking forward to playing in front of a packed house at Nippert Stadium and in his words wants you to “bring the noise”. He understands the frustrations of a lot of fans after the slow start to the season but is asking for patience as new faces on the team haven’t had time to gel. He also revealed his feelings toward Skyline Chili.

We look back at the 2-0 result in Bethlehem. There wasn’t too much to be said about that game so we quickly moved on to callers and looked ahead to Saint Louis FC this weekend. For an even greater in-depth look at our opponent, this week make sure you download our “March to Matchday” podcast which will be available Thursday.

Last, but certainly not least, we were joined by Fox from the Knights of the Bailey. Fox is a mainstay in the Bailey on the drums. He filled us in on some of the new chants he’s looking forward to singing this weekend.

FC Cincinnati gets 3 points on the road and more importantly keep a clean sheet against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Plus we’re joined by Daryl Fordyce, one of the newest members of FC Cincinnati’s offensive attack. Download it today!

No Episode Captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today!

Highlights from this week’s show.

Daryl Fordyce has spent a few years in North America kicking soccer balls around. He hasn’t spent very much time though in the Queen City. The Northern Ireland striker came over this offseason from FC Edmonton where he was the club’s all-time leader in goals. After being here a few weeks though, Fordyce has quickly noticed the great eatery’s around town, he just can’t remember their names! Rumor has it he’s a big fan of Chipotle though. Who isn’t?

Fordyce is struggling for fitness at the moment after being injured after the Charleston match, The Dazzler as he was known as in Edmonton should help raise FC Cincinnati’s goal tally this season. Oh yeah, a rule of thumb, don’t call him The Dazzler around Die Innenstadt. They immediately put the kibosh on that nickname upon his arrival.

CST Bus Trip

We look back at the 1-0 result against Pittsburgh, but more importantly, we discuss the first ever CST Bus Trip. It was a smashing success! Thank you to all who attended the game, not just on the bus, but EVERYONE! Your presence was certainly felt at Highmark Stadium. I did my absolute best to get around to each and every one of you and introduce myself. If I missed you, I’m very sorry. It just means we’ll have to catch up sometime this summer at Nippert Stadium!

We look back at the 1-0 result in Pittsburgh. Were you disappointed that FC Cincinnati could only manage 1 goal against Pittsburgh despite playing with 10 men for 60 minutes in that match? At some point, something other than Djiby’s forehead will score for FC Cincinnati, right?

We briefly look ahead to the match this Sunday’s match against the Bethlehem Steel. For an even greater in-depth look at our opponent, this week make sure you download our “March to Matchday” podcast which will be available Thursday.

Another USL season opener, another opening season loss for FC Cincinnati. The Orange and Blue are on the wrong side of a 2-1 game. On this week’s show, we recap. We also visit with VP of Ticketing, Jeff Smith, to discuss the staff’s preparations.

This week’s episode is sponsored by Kings Hammer Soccer Club. Learn more about one of the region’s finest soccer clubs at KingsHammer.com.

Highlights from this week’s show.

Jeff Smith, VP of Ticketing for FC Cincinnati joins again on the show this week to fill us in on the latest details heading into the 2017 home season. One of the bigger topics on the evening was the new ticketing policy for The Bailey. He also dropped some news regarding season tickets possibly being in your mailbox soon.

Our very own Boston Brazzell made the trip down to Charleston and he gave us a full report on his journey. From the pictures we’ve seen and friends of the show on social media, it sounds like Charleston provided some great southern hospitality until the teams hit the field.

We took a look back at the 2-1 result, opened up the phones and had some discussions surrounding the offense and formations being used at the moment. What did you make of Saturday’s loss in Charleston? What needs correcting?

We briefly look ahead to the match this Saturday at 5 PM in Pittsburgh against the Riverhounds. For an even greater in-depth look at our opponent, this week make sure you download our “March to Matchday” podcast which will be available Thursday.

This week’s Episode Captain is Brian Malone. Thanks for your support Brian! If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today!

Highlights from this week’s show.

We opened up the phone lines and heard from a few fans this week. We asked each caller a few questions. The first being where would FC Cincinnati finish this season in the Eastern Conference? Who will be the leading goalscorer for FC Cincinnati this season? Who will be the team MVP for FC Cincinnati?

On Tuesday, FC Cincinnati announced their newest signing, Mélé Temguia, who joins the club from Montreal Impact.

We had a chance to catch up with Johnathan Schoepf, the Membership Coordinator for The Legion. Johnathan filled us in on what The Legion have been up to this offseason and what the group is looking forward to achieving in 2017. To find out more information about The Legion, visit their website at thelegionfcc.com.

We look ahead at this week’s FC Cincinnati opponent, the Charleston Battery. Of course, we know all too well about the Battery from last season. In the USL opener a year ago, FC Cincinnati battled and nearly walked of Charleston on a rainy night with a 0-0 draw, until the Battery score the winning goal with 20 seconds left in stoppage time. Plus, we all know how things went down in the postseason last fall. Time to get revenge on Charleston this weekend!

Matt Bahner grew up in West Chester and played soccer at Lakota West. After a stellar high school career, he moved on to the University of Cincinnati. This offseason he joined FC Cincinnati after spending a few years in NASL. Matt joins and an already solid defensive unit for the Orange and Blue. During his visit with CST, he talked about keeping up with FC Cincinnati while in Jacksonville last year. Now he’s excited to be back home, and more importantly glad to be near Skyline Chili again.

Ben Knapp from the Queen City Firm rang up this week as we continued our Supporters Group series. Ben’s discussed the Firm’s new plans for pregame festivities in 2017. We’re just a few weeks away from our deadline to fill up the CST bus to Pittsburgh! Right now we have 23 seats to fill by March 17th! Get your tickets today for just $60. BUY HERE.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We start off the show by recapping the match vs Sacramento Republic FC. The game ended 2-2 as Harrison Delbridge headed home the equalizer late in stoppage time. Are you concerned with the defense now that it appears Austin Berry may have suffered a significant injury to his arm? What about the offense? Only 6 shots mustered up in that game on Saturday night. Or do you just consider this preseason and don’t take much stock in the performances?

FC Cincinnati hosted a watch party at MadTree 2.0 on Saturday night. The club unveiled their highly anticipated alternate kit. A black jersey with gray on the shoulders. Basically, it’s the US Men’s National team kit just in black/gray. The jersey is receiving mixed reviews among FC Cincinnati fans, even some of us staff members have differing viewpoints on the kits. What say you?

We opened up the phone lines as well this week and had some great callers. We caught up with Colin Hill from The Bailey Bastards. Colin tells us how the Bastards got their start last season. The Supporters Group is growing and having a great time. They’re even planning a bus trip of their own later this summer.

Alan Koch, FC Cincinnati’s head coach, then phoned into the show from Florida where the team is wrapping up their preseason visit to IMG Academy. Coach Koch filled us in on the closed door match the team played against the United States U17 team. Alan can’t wait to play in front of The Bailey and hopes that his years of experience coaching in the US and Canada makes him the perfect fit for building FC Cincinnati into an Eastern Conference juggernaut. He clued us in on the formations he prefers and that there may be an addition to the defense being announced soon. Stay tuned to CST for more updates!

Bill recapped his week in Florida and talked about how great it was to interview players and just how helpful the club was setting everything up for him.

Bill also attended Monday night’s first Supporters Council meeting. But what goes on in the Supporters Council meeting, STAYS in the council.

There was big news out of the FC Cincinnati Front Office late last week surrounding the coaching staff. So who better to have on the podcast this week than none other than Jeff Berding, the President and GM of the club to discuss.

Highlights from this week’s show.

We welcomed back the one and only Brad Weigel back to the podcast this week after a month off due to some scheduling issues. Brad, Bill, Yosief and I briefly looked back at the 3-2 loss to the OKC Energy on Sunday.

Jeff Berding then phoned in from sunny Florida to give us the scoop surrounding the club. Jeff had nothing but positive things to say about former coach John Harkes. He’s very excited though to see where new coach Alan Koch can take the Orange and Blue.

Wednesday afternoon will be a great barometer for FC Cincinnati as they take on MLS side Chicago Fire. We discuss the match and offer up our predictions on what we’ll see.

We opened up the phone lines late in the show where we heard from many of you regarding the club.

The FC Cincinnati Front Office continue to bolster their offensive attack. How many goals can this team score? How will they lineup? What formation will John Harkes use to get the 62 goals they’ve set out for? We discuss that and more on this week’s CST Podcast.

This week’s episode is sponsored by The Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Get your tickets to see US Women’s Soccer legend Abby Wambach speak at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center on March 25th. Visit CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/Abby for more details.

Highlights from this week’s show.

The newest FC Cincinnati striker is Djiby Fall, or as we’ll call him Djiby from this point forward. He was introduced to Cincinnati at Monday’s press conference along with Victor Mansaray. Djiby played a few seasons with Locomotiv in the Russian Premier League. We visited with Toke Theilade who is the editor-in-chief at RussianFootballNews.com to get a scouting report.

We opened up the phone lines for the debut of the FCC Free For All. What is the Free For All? Each month will let YOU control the show. You can either call in to the phone line, tweet your questions to us at @cincysoccertalk. You can email us, Facebook message us. It’s all about whatever YOU want to discuss. We heard from some great fans of FC Cincinnati and even the play-by-play voice of the orange and blue, Tom Gehlerter called in. You can tell he’s READY for soccer to start.

Last but not least, we were joined by the Fair Maidens, an all female FC Cincinnati supporters group. The three founding mothers of the group, Lacey, Lauren and Carly phoned in and we had a great chat. Ladies! Join the Fair Maidens today!

10,000. That’s how many season ticket holders FC Cincinnati has for the 2017 season. Plus, that number will continue to rise as we get closer to the season. Thinking about getting a ticket in the Bailey? You better act fast. Consider yourself warned.

FC Cincinnati announced this week that Victor Mansaray, a forward from S2 by way of the Seattle Sounders would join the club on a season long loan. Mansaray recently featured as the #1 player under 20 in the USL last season. Dave Clark from SounderAtHeart.com joined us on this week’s podcast to get a scouting report on the US Youth National Team forward.

Last but not least, we caught up with “The Guy on the Left” from the Queen City Mafia, Craig McKnight. Craig filled us in on how the Mafia got started last year and how you can join their Supporters Group this season.

Want Tickets to See Soccer Legend Abby Wambach Speak?

We’re looking for YOU to create your best sketches, renderings, pictures, whatever you want to call your designs of a soccer specific stadium. That’s right. We want you to design a soccer specific stadium that FC Cincinnati would play in. It could be a location within the city that you’d like to have the stadium built. It could be a high tech computer design of the stadium itself. We’ll post the submissions on our site. Email us your designs/locations at CincySoccerTalk@spnt.tv. The tickets have been provided to us courtesy of The Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.

The USL Schedule was FINALLY released this week. FC Cincinnati will start the season off with 3 road matches. They’ll follow that up with a 3-match homestand starting April 15th with Saint Louis FC, USL newcomers Tampa Bay Rowdies and finishing up with Louisville City FC. Their last home match of the regular season falls on September 16th where they’ll face defending USL Champions, New York Red Bulls 2.

FC Cincinnati was 1 of 12 cities to throw their names into the ring for MLS Expansion. The deadline to apply came and went this week. Brian Straus from Sports Illustrated wrote a great piece profiling the city of Cincinnati. Check it out here.

Our very own Boston Brazzell rang in to chat about FC Cincinnati’s first practice session open to the media. Find out who impressed him the most in this episode.

Last but not least we visited with Jared Handra, the new Vice President of Die Innenstadt to discuss the supporters group’s offseason. We also got a glimpse of what’s to come in 2017 from DI.

It only took us 49 episodes, but we FINALLY made it happen! FC Cincinnati Head Coach John Harkes joins us this week on the podcast. John tells us his thoughts on the new roster for 2017 and even offered up his thoughts on Video Assistant Referees. Download it today!

The captain of this week’s episode is Tim Bronsil! Tim has generously supported CST over at CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support. You should too!

John Harkes is a legend in US Soccer. He’s the first American player to play in the Premier League in England. He got his start in England with Sheffield Wednesday, arguably the greatest club name in England, in my opinion. He went on to play for Derby County and had a loan stint with West Ham United. John then came home stateside when MLS launched in 1996 joining DC United where he helped them win the first ever MLS Cup. He went on to also play for the New England Revolution and Columbus Crew. FC Cincinnati is his first coaching stint after many years as a fantastic broadcaster on ESPN and SiriusXM FC.

John discusses the new roster for 2017 and hints that there may be more signings to come.

He offers us up his take on Video Assistant Referees though clearly it’s a sore subject amongst many FC Cincinnati faithful.

He hasn’t tried Skyline Chili, yet.

Tough act to follow but Payne Rankin knocked it out of the park. Payne is the President of The Pride Supporters Group and they have a big event coming up this weekend. The Membership Bash and Scarf Release Party is Friday, January 27th at Molly Malone’s in Covington. Sounds like it’s going to be a great time so don’t miss it!

Highlights from this week’s show.

We start the show off by looking at some of the new additions to the FC Cincinnati squad. Aodhan Quinn, who previously served as the Louisville City captain last year, has joined the orange and blue. Also it was announced this week that Daryl Fordyce and Matt Bahner, a local soccer product, has joined the FC Cincinnati ranks as well.

Our guest this week is none other than Jay Schneider who serves as the General Manager for the Cincinnati Swerve, the city’s newest indoor soccer team. The Swerve recently won the Louisville Mockingbird Valley Invitational, and also were Midwest Division champions in 2015-2016. They currently feature Antoine Hoppenot from FC Cincinnati and Luke Spencer who contributed to FC Cincinnati last season. They have a big match this upcoming weekend. It’s a double header at GameTime Training Center in Fairfield, OH. The Swerve Academy play at 6:30 and the pro’s play at 8:30. Tickets are $6 at the door! Head on out and quench that soccer fix you’ve been craving.

Last week, FC Cincinnati released their preseason friendly list and it’s very solid.

On this week’s show we’re thrilled to be joined by Peter Wilt from Chicago NASL to discuss the USSF’s decision to have 2 Division 2 Leagues. Plus the latest FC Cincinnati news. Download it today!

Highlights from this week’s show.

On this week’s show we’re happy to be joined by special guest host Chad Hollingsworth from Scratching the Pitch and The USL Show.

However, the Guest of Honor this week (and I’m certain Chad agrees) is none other than Peter Wilt. Peter has many years of soccer experience under his belt through multiple leagues in this country. Right now Peter currently serves as the CEO of Chicago NASL, a project in which he’s trying to bring NASL soccer to downtown Chicago. He previously served as the President of Indy Eleven. He offered great insight on all of the developments regarding division status for both USL and NASL.

FC Cincinnati added 3 new players to their roster. Andy Craven (OKC Energy/Seattle Sounders), Marco Dominguez (FC Montreal) and Aaron Walker (BÍ/Bolungarvik in the Icelandic 1st Division).

Highlights from this week’s show.

Bill, Bryan, Boston and I discuss the latest FC Cincinnati news. Here’s some of the recent items of note:

  • FC Cincinnati has announced a new city wide FIFA video game tournament to take place February 11th and 12th at numerous locations around the city.
  • The Knights of the Bailey will be holding a Chant Workshop on January 22nd from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you have chant ideas, please email theknightsofthebailey@gmail.com.
  • Don’t forget to get your applications in to join the Cincinnati Supporters Council. You have until January 13th.
  • Join some of the Cincinnati Soccer Talk staff for Cincinnati Swerve Night January 21st at Game Time Training Center in Fairfield. Watch FC Cincinnati’s Antoine Hoppenot and Luke Spencer hit the field for the Swerve as they take on the Cleveland Legacy.

We discuss a rumor surrounding a player transfer, César Benítez, a 26-year old Paraguayan who currently plays in Brazil’s top league for Coritiba. We also discuss some of the places where FC Cincinnati need to upgrade before the season starts.

Still no news from the USSF and division sanctioning for the NASL and USL.

We’re visited by Michael Stump from alchmst.com. Michael designed the orange flags you saw waiting in the Bailey stands this summer and of course was generosu enough to design the new Cincinnati Soccer Talk logo.

Finally, incoming Missouri governor Eric Greitens reiterates his decision to not support state funding for stadiums, including the proposed $200 million soccer stadium in downtown St. Louis.
